Tata Electronics Partners with Merck to Strengthen India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem

Tata Electronics Private Limited and Merck have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The partnership will play a crucial role in developing Tata’s upcoming semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, which is set to become India’s first major hub for chipmaking. Merck will provide high-purity electronic materials, advanced gas and chemical delivery systems, turnkey fabrication infrastructure, and AI-driven Material Intelligence™ solutions to support this project. The collaboration also covers global best practices in safety, access to the Athinia® data analytics platform, warehousing, raw material supply chain development, talent cultivation, and industry standards. With an investment of ₹91,000 crore (approx. US $11 billion), this Dholera-based fab is expected to accelerate execution and position India as a global force in semiconductor innovation.
