The Tata Group is in discussions with Singapore for a potential partnership in the semiconductor sector. Singapore’s minister K. Shanmugam highlighted Tata’s five-decade presence in the country and called it a trusted partner, while emphasizing Singapore’s strengths as a global semiconductor hub, accounting for 20% of global equipment production and hosting around 25 foundries. This collaboration would support India’s push to build a domestic chip ecosystem, complementing Tata’s ongoing projects such as its AI-enabled chip fabrication plant in Dholera with Taiwan’s PSMC and a large assembly and testing facility in Assam. Alongside semiconductors, the talks also cover cooperation in skills development, industrial parks, green energy, and digital initiatives.
