chevron_rightIn a significant development for India’s rapidly growing semiconductor ecosystem, Marine Electricals (India) Ltd. has secured a major order worth ₹115 crore from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for work related to Tata’s upcoming semiconductor manufacturing facility in Dholera.
As per the company’s regulatory filing, the contract includes the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of low-tension (LT) electrical panels and branch systems, which are critical components for the functioning of the advanced chip manufacturing plant. The execution timeline for this project is estimated at 18 months.
This development comes at a time when India is aggressively pushing to build a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem, with Dholera emerging as a strategic hub for next-generation electronics manufacturing.
The semiconductor facility is part of a larger government-approved initiative, where Tata Electronics is setting up a semiconductor fabrication unit in collaboration with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC). The project is expected to attract investments of up to ₹91,000 crore (~$11 billion), making it one of the largest tech manufacturing investments in India.
Once operational, the Dholera semiconductor plant is projected to generate over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs, significantly boosting employment and strengthening India’s position in the global electronics supply chain.
Overall, this order not only reinforces Marine Electricals’ growing presence in high-value industrial projects but also highlights the accelerating momentum of Dholera Smart City as India’s semiconductor and industrial powerhouse.
