Gujarat Signs ₹1 Lakh Crore HUDCO Funding Pact to Accelerate Dholera Smart City, Metro and Expressway Projects

Gandhinagar: In a major boost to Gujarat's infrastructure development plans, the Gujarat Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) for financial assistance of up to ₹1 lakh crore.

The agreement aims to support large-scale infrastructure projects across the state, including metro rail networks, expressways, smart city developments, industrial corridors, urban infrastructure, transport systems, and strategic growth projects such as Dholera Smart City.

According to officials, the funding support will help accelerate the implementation of key infrastructure initiatives that are expected to strengthen Gujarat's position as one of India's leading industrial and investment destinations.

The agreement comes at a time when several mega projects are progressing rapidly across Gujarat, including the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, Dholera International Airport, semiconductor manufacturing projects, logistics infrastructure, and industrial development within Dholera Special Investment Region (Dholera SIR).

Dholera Smart City, India's first Greenfield Smart City, is expected to be among the major beneficiaries of enhanced infrastructure funding. The region is already witnessing significant investment in transportation, industrial infrastructure, utilities, and connectivity projects.

The ₹1 lakh crore funding framework is expected to support future infrastructure expansion, improve project execution capabilities, and strengthen long-term urban development across Gujarat.

HUDCO is one of India's leading public sector financial institutions providing funding support for housing and infrastructure projects. The new agreement reflects Gujarat's continued focus on infrastructure-led economic growth and sustainable urban development.

The funding partnership is expected to play a crucial role in supporting upcoming projects related to smart cities, mobility, industrial growth, logistics, and regional connectivity throughout the state.
