The Gujarat government has asked the Centre for a grant of Rs 40,783 crore over the next six years to boost the semiconductor industry in Sanand and the Dholera Special Investment Region. The proposal aims to create world-class infrastructure, strengthen supplier networks, and develop skilled manpower to support a complete semiconductor and electronics ecosystem. Gujarat already hosts four of the five facilities approved under India’s semiconductor mission, including Tata Electronics’ upcoming fab in Dholera and a chip packaging cluster in Sanand with companies like Micron, CG Semi, and Kaynes Semicon. The funding will help position Gujarat as a major hub for semiconductor manufacturing and exports.
