₹6,000 Cr Sanctioned by DMIC Trust to Accelerate Dholera & Shendra-Bidkin Development

In a major boost to India’s industrial infrastructure, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) Trust will invest ₹3,000 crore each for the development of trunk infrastructure in Dholera (Gujarat) and Shendra-Bidkin (Maharashtra). These two nodes are among the first industrial cities to be launched this year under the DMIC mega development project.

“We will launch two cities this year and allocate ₹3,000 crore each for trunk infrastructure,” said Talleen Kumar, CEO & MD of DMIC Development Corporation, at the World Cities Summit in Singapore.

Construction is expected to begin early next year. Dholera's development will start with a 22 sq km Activation Zone, while 32 sq km has already been acquired for Shendra-Bidkin, with an additional 8 sq km in the acquisition process—taking the total to 40 sq km for the Maharashtra node.

Kumar added that master planning is nearly complete for all DMIC cities, and special purpose vehicles (SPVs)—jointly owned (50:50) by the Centre and respective state governments—are being established to execute the projects.

In the coming year, three more cities will be launched:

• Greater Noida Township (Uttar Pradesh)
• Global City (Gurgaon, Haryana)
• Vikram Udyogpuri (Madhya Pradesh)

Land for these developments is being provided by the respective state governments.
Kumar emphasized that the DMIC initiative represents a paradigm shift in India’s manufacturing landscape, aiming to create jobs and transform landowners into industrial stakeholders. With global interest growing, DMIC is expected to attract over $100 billion in investments, significantly increasing land value and enabling inclusive economic growth.
