chevron_rightDholera, Gujarat: Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) has emerged as the preferred location for the proposed Embraer E175 regional jet Final Assembly Line (FAL), a landmark project being developed through the strategic partnership between Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. The development is expected to position Dholera as a major aerospace manufacturing hub and strengthen India's vision of becoming a global aviation and defence manufacturing destination.
The proposed facility will support the assembly of Embraer’s E175 regional aircraft, a globally recognized jet widely used for regional air connectivity. The initiative forms part of a broader plan to establish an integrated regional transport aircraft ecosystem in India, covering manufacturing, supply chain development, maintenance services, pilot training, and aerospace support infrastructure.
Dholera SIR has gained prominence due to its strategic advantages, including the upcoming Dholera International Airport, world-class industrial infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, and its planned smart city ecosystem. These factors make it an ideal location for high-value aerospace and aviation investments.
Industry experts believe that the establishment of an aircraft assembly line in Dholera could generate thousands of skilled employment opportunities, attract aerospace suppliers, and accelerate industrial growth across the region. The project is also expected to contribute significantly to the Government of India's "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives by encouraging domestic manufacturing of advanced aviation technologies.
Earlier this year, Adani Defence & Aerospace and Embraer strengthened their partnership through an enhanced Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing a regional aircraft manufacturing ecosystem in India. The proposed E175 assembly line represents a major step toward localizing commercial aircraft production and reducing dependence on imports.
While the final investment and production plans remain subject to commercial approvals and aircraft order commitments, Dholera's selection as the leading contender highlights its growing importance in India's next-generation industrial and aerospace landscape. Industry estimates suggest that if sufficient aircraft orders are secured, production activities could begin within the next few years, further strengthening Dholera’s position as a future-ready manufacturing destination.
With major infrastructure projects, industrial corridors, and aviation developments converging in the region, Dholera continues to attract global attention as one of India's most promising smart city and investment destinations.
