CONCOR to run container terminal at upcoming Bhavnagar Port

Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) has signed an MoU with Bhavnagar Port Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (BPIPL) to operate the upcoming container terminal on the north side of Bhavnagar Port. For the first time, CONCOR will act as a “senior partner” in a gateway terminal. The terminal is expected to be operational by 2028, boosting connectivity for Central Gujarat, the Dholera Industrial Belt, and NCR.

Backed by a strong logistics network, CONCOR already operates 66 terminals, runs 380 container trains, owns 48,000+ shipping containers, and manages 4 million sq. ft. of warehouse space. The company has also started container shipping to the Middle East through a Dubai-based partner and is planning further expansion into Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, the government is working on launching “Bharat Container Line” to reduce India’s reliance on foreign shipping companies, which currently handle 99% of the country’s container trade. This move further strengthens Bhavnagar Port’s strategic role in India’s logistics growth story.
