Centre gives nod to 65 km Bhavnagar – Dholera railway line

The Union Government has approved the construction of a 65-kilometer broad-gauge railway line connecting Bhavnagar and Dholera, in line with the rapid development of the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR).

A Final Location Survey (FLS) will begin soon as part of the project’s preparatory phase.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed maps during his recent Bhavnagar visit and directed work to start immediately. In a letter to Bhavnagar MP Nimuben Bambhaniya, he confirmed orders for the FLS have been issued.

The project complements the expansion of Bhavnagar Port into a multi-purpose port. The new line will extend rail access to the proposed container terminal, benefiting industries in Dholera SIR by improving import-export logistics.The project gained momentum with support from Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, MP Nimuben Bambhaniya, and Bhavnagar West MLA Jitu Vaghani.
